Prezentowane obrazy należą do 2 cykli.

The Poznań show of Grzegorz Sztwiertnia reflects the artist’s present-day fascinations and pursuits. Thus it has a very special character, because it also has a significant research character. For those who know Sztwiertnia’s oeuvre this will hardly come as a surprise. The Krakow-based artist reflects on specific concepts and their surprising interrelations. Tracking the meaning of words, he is very insightful and courageously creates a kind of parallel reality enveloped in mystery…
The paintings on display belong to 2 series. The first one is called Draperie / Drapes (Perinea nocturna) – canvases made specifically for this particular show, not displayed earlier. The other one is the already known Lekcje szycia / Sewing Lessons.
A few words from the artist: “The title of the exhibition is a portmanteau word merging the term perineum (a Latin, medical name for the crotch) with a name of a moth species (perinea – no singular form). The title, then, is a neologism to denote a hybrid, something like a “crotchmoth”. The title of the series, in itself another portmanteau, means “nocturnal crotches”, but the second part – nocturna – is taken from the Parasiccia nocturna moth species”.
