Let's watch 'I Never Cry' (Jak najdalej stąd) in English version in Kino Rialto @ Kino Rialto
OVIEgoers Club and Kino Rialto invite to a special screening of the film “I Never Cry” directed by Piotr Domalewski – screening in English
Thursday, October the 24th, 2020, 5.00 pm.
Kino Rialto (ul. Dąbrowskiego 38, Poznań)
“I Never Cry” by Piotr Domalewski, like the director’s debut, “Silent Night”, is a bittersweet analysis of tangled family relationships. The film is a Polish-Irish co-production, and the dialogues are conducted partly in Polish and partly in English. We invite you to the only screening of the film in Poznań with English subtitles (i.e. English dialogues will be without Polish subtitles).
Organizational information:
The screening of the film begins on October the 22nd at 6.30 p.m. and the club members meet at 6.15pm in front of the cinema to listen to a short introduction (in English) about the history and specificity of the Kino Rialto.
Each participant buys a ticket for the screening on their own.
After the screening, those willing to discuss the film (in English) will move to a nearby pub.
About the MOVIEgoers Club project:
Over the last few years, Poznań has become an important center for foreigners who want to study and work in Poland. It is estimated that there are about 30,000 foreigners in Wielkopolska, most of them in the 20-39 age group. All Poznań universities host foreign students and female students.
The cultural offer addressed to foreigners is still not very wide, on the other hand, people who come to Poznań to study or to work look for entertainment and company, they also want to learn about the history of the city and its inhabitants. In many studies, foreigners indicate difficulties in making friends with Poles.
“I decided to meet these needs and create a Poznań film club in English, addressed to the inhabitants of the city – both Poles and foreigners. – says Małgorzata Kuzdra, the author of the project. – I hope that visiting a different Poznań cinema every month will be an interesting perspective for our new residents to get to know the city. And the film is a good starting point for a conversation, not only about where you are from and what you are doing, but also more in-depth discussions, creating a field for exchanging experiences and establishing friendly relations.”
Organizer:
Małgorzata Kuzdra – a graduate of philosophy in field of social communication, for 10 years the manager of Kina Muza, then a film distributor, currently a freelance in the field of cultural activities and a masseuse.
The project is implemented until the end of 2020 as part of a scholarship awarded by the Culture Department of the Poznań City Hall.
